Charity and Justice

Parishioners, through personal dedication to the community of man, should strive to alleviate human suffering and even more importantly, work to eliminate the causes of social problems.

Parishioners are encouraged to become involved in this work so that Catholic efforts toward social justice can become a strong, effective force in our region. To join in, please contact your parish's secretary.

Help Needed

The Thrift Shop at St. Martin of Tours worship site in Millinocket provides many families with inexpensive clothing and household items. More familiies are being served, so more volunteers are needed.

The Thrift Shop is now located on two floors of the former convent building on Maine Street.

Can you give a few hours a week or a month? To volunteer, please call 723-5902.

    • bereaved
  3. Prepare a list of all social services available in the region and publicize it
  4. Foster social legislation:

  6. Support efforts for public housing for elderly or low-income people
  7. Educate parishioners on local, state, national and world social justice issues

  9. Communicate regularly with the regional district of the Diocesan Human Relations Services
