Worship & Spirituality

A parish is a community of faith. The worship and spirituality commission works to nourish each parishoner's personal faith – faith centered in Jesus the Christ. To become involved in this awesome, fundamental work of our Catholic community, please contact your parish's secretary.

Services and Responsibilities

This commission focuses on the spiritual well-being of the parish. The commissioners ask what the people need for growth, communicate what is available, recruit volunteers to run events put things in motion, evaluate needs and activities. The types of things with which the commission is concerned are listed here. This is not an exhaustive list. 

§         Recruitment and training for ministries:

o        Acolytes      Lectors       Eucharistic Ministers     Musicians     Cantors     Choirs    Ushers

§         Planning liturgies for Sundays and special occasions

§         Assistance to priests in preparing and evaluating homilies

§         Make decisions re: altar decorations, banners, audio-visual aids, etc. with other parish commissions

§         Facilitate penitential services

§         Encourage and get volunteers for devotional services -- Stations of the Cross, Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, novenas, etc.

§         Cursillos

§         Prayer groups: charismatic and non-charismatic

§         Parish retreats

§         Weekend retreats away from the parish
